Ken Keable (79) was recruited through the Young Communist League to go on undercover missions to apartheid South Africa in 1968 and 1970 on behalf of the African National Congress. He posted 1200 smuggled letters to the Indian community and set off (non-lethal) leaflet bombs and a street broadcast. He is the editor and researcher of London Recruits – the secret war against apartheid which was published in 2012 and has now been made into a film, London Recruits. The film was recently premiered at the Johannesburg Film Festival, where it was voted “best documentary”.
