Ian hails from the Forest of Dean and has written several pamphlets and books published by BRHG. His primary interest is the labour and trade union history of the Forest of Dean in particular the history of the Forest of Dean Miners’ Association (FDMA) which was the trade union representing Forest of Dean miners. He has also written about the history of social crime and protest in the Forest in relation to transportation and the struggle against enclosure. He is currently writing a history of the FDMA from 1922 -1953 which includes a biography of the full-time paid official for the FDMA John Williams. He is currently the BRHG treasurer.
