Robert Howes

Robert Howes was born and brought up in Bristol and is an historian, specialising in Brazilian literature and history. He has been involved as a volunteer since the 1970s in LGBT organisations, such as the Campaign for Homosexual Equality (CHE), London Friend, Gay West and OutStories Bristol. He has published a book on the history of the LGBT movement in the Bristol area (Gay West: Civil Society, Community and LGBT History in Bath and Bristol, 1970-2010. Bristol: SilverWood Books, 2011, available free at OutStories Bristol) and a number of articles on the LGBT press in Brazil.
