“Super Troopers: A Vietnam War doc with powerful contemporary parallels” – Bill Gallo, The Village Voice
Mass desertions! Demonstrations! Refusal to go into battle! Antiwar Newspapers! If you thought that resistance to war came from activist groups, social movements and campaigns then think again. Acclaimed film ‘Sir! No Sir!’ highlights the internal resistance to the Vietnam War by the GI Antiwar Movement. It’s a little known fact that thousands of GI’s organized and resisted the Vietnam War at great personal cost, many ending up in prison or in exile. This film uncovers the hidden story of that internal resistance and questions why this story has been hidden from view.
Sir! No Sir! is a film that challenges deeply-held beliefs not just about the Vietnam War and those who fought it, but about the world we live in today.
The film will be introduced by Bristol’s very own Radical History Group.
